BODY sizes of all types are being sought to join Albury-Wodonga’s newest sporting squad.
Recruits for the Border’s competitive dragon boat teams are being invited to participate in a come and try day at Gateway Lakes tomorrow.
Head coach Michael Dooley said men and women were being sought with candidates not needing to have sporting experience.
“We’re looking for anybody who wants to be part of a new sport,” Mr Dooley said.
“We’ll take all shapes and sizes; because of the design of the boat we need different shapes to fill different positions.”
The Albury Wodonga Dragon Boat Club, the Warriors, is looking to field a men’s, women’s and mixed teams against Melbourne rivals.
“The club is designed to be a racing club, so whether we’ve got 10 members or 100 members we’ll go and race,” Mr Dooley said.
Each team requires 20 members and Mr Dooley is hoping for 60 to 200 people to come tomorrow between midday and 3pm.
Training will be held three times a week, with the first event at Melbourne’s Docklands in November.
