A man was trapped and had to be rescued from his vehicle after a two-car smash at Ross Creek yesterday.
Police say a DSE firefighting Landcruiser tray-ute was towing a trailer east along the Sebastopol-Smythesdale road just before 1pm when the collision took place.
Ballarat Highway Patrol Acting Senior Sergeant Stuart Gale said a Ford sedan facing give-way signs travelled north through the intersection from Post Office Road.
He said the vehicles collided, with the Landcruiser and trailer rolling several times.
Acting Senior Sergeant Gale said the two occupants in the Landcruiser were taken to hospital with minor injuries. “The driver of the Ford sedan was trapped for about 40 minutes,” he said.
“He was extricated by CFA rescue and conveyed to the Ballarat Base Hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.” Police blocked the intersection for almost two hours as the scene was cleared.
