FAMILY rivalry, as well as V8 tribal bragging rights, will be on the line during the Bathurst 1000 tomorrow.
Summerhill’s Mathew Webb and his aunt Angela Howell, of Ravenswood, will be two of many V8 Supercars fans glued to the box watching what is dubbed as the “Great Race”.
Mr Webb will be in the blue (Ford) corner, while Ms Howell will be in the red (Holden) one.
“It’s the main race of the year and there’s a lot of history around it,” Mr Webb, who is planning on watching the entire seven-hour event, said.
“I’ve always liked Fords because they’re reliable, run a lot better and I love the shape.”
These reasons are similar for Ms Howell when describing her love of Holden.
“I’ve always liked the Holdens, and I really like their shape,” she said.
“(Bathurst) is a chance for Holden to show how good they really are.”
Mr Webb is tipping Will Davison or Mark Winterbottom to take out the race, while Ms Howell is backing Craig Lowndes to claim the chequered flag for a sixth time.
